Gorilla

My animal’s name is the Mountain Gorilla.  Mountain Gorilla’s can be as tall as 6 ft. and can weigh up to about 600 pounds.  Gorillas look aggressive, but as long as you don’t mess with them, they probably won’t mess with you.

Mountain Gorillas live in the cloud forests of volcano’s in South America.  Light weight gorillas make nests in the trees.  Other gorillas make nests on the forest floor.  These gorillas also live in the hills of the rainforest.

Mountain Gorillas eat insects such as ants and flies.  Gorillas eat worms too, not all kinds, but many.  Gorillas also eat some plants, spiders and small beetles.

Gorillas are mammals, which means there babies are born alive.   Like egg laying animals, mountain gorillas have nests, just not in a tree.  Female mountain gorillas get swollen knuckles some times when they’re ready to have babies.

Mountain Gorillas attack rarely.  In the movie King Kong the mountain gorilla is like a monster, in real life it rarely happens.

Gorillas are predators, but also have some of there own.  Leopards and crocodiles are some of the animals gorillas are afraid of. Humans are also predators of the gorillas, it wasn’t always this way, but because of what they are doing to their homes, they are the worst predators of all.  Mountain gorillas are the most endangered sub-species in the world.  Hunters kill them for meat and stuff them for trophies.

I hope you liked my report on Mountain Gorillas.
