Harp seals have white fur when they are babies. A thick layer of fat keeps the harp seals cozy warm. The harp seal can find his mom really fast because they make a crying sound and it helps the mom find the seal. Sometimes seal pups are called whitecoats because they're full of soft and pure white coats. Alot of seals spend alot of time swimming in the freezing arctic. When they are four weeks old their coats become gray like the grownups.
