Food
Iroquois and Algonquians women planted and harvested the crops. Corn, beans, and squash were called,” The Three Sisters” because they were often planted together in the same spot. They were the three main crops. They also picked berries and herbs.
The men did most of the hunting. They hunted deer, fish, and elk with weapons like bows, spears, and arrows.
The food they ate wasn’t very different from what we eat now. Back then they ate fish and deer, and also found stuff in the woods or forests just like we do. The women would cook the food over the fire back at the village. Then they would eat up!
