My animal is the orangutan. Orangutans are going extinct because poachers are killing them. Some orangutans can be 5 feet tall and weight up to 200 pounds. Orangutans have really furry fur that is really thick.
The orangutan I am studying lives in the South American rainforests. They don’t live on the forest floor they live in the trees that are really strong. It lives in a nest of really big leaves. I got this information out of a book called Orangutans.
An orangutan eats lots of fruit, bark, leaves, and other kinds of plants. Orangutans don’t hunt for food they climb trees and pick food off the trees and they grab them off trees.
An orangutan has its baby alive. It stays with its mom for a couple of years. Then it lives on its own for its life. It does care for its young by giving it milk, and making a bed for it.
An orangutan protects itself by staying up high in the rainforest trees. It does not have many predators, most of them are people.
