Polar bears live in the Arctic and sometimes the polar bear is called the "King of the Arctic." The polar bear can weigh up to 1,600 pounds and has hardly any enemies except for humans. Even though the polar bear is so heavy, it can still walk across thin ice. The male polar bear weighs twice as much as the female. Most polar bears spend their life hunting. Polar bears have 2 babies in winter. The female teaches her cubs until they are 2 years old. The life expectancy of a female is 4 years and a male is 6 years. They have thick white fur that keeps them warm. Polar bears fur is actually black to keep itself warm. Polar bears can withstand the cold temperatures because of their fur. Polar bears are 10 feet long and can run 35 miles per hour on land. Polar bears can outrun a Caribou. They look almost invisible in blizzards. Their claws are two inches thick. They are very good swimmers.
