Tree Kangaroos are chestnut to red brown with bright red bellies. Their ears are like rabbit ears just smaller. The Tree Kangaroo has a large heavy body. Its body is 20-30 inches long. Its tail is 17-36 inches long. All together that’s about 66 inches long! Males weigh 15 lbs. Females weigh 15-17 lbs.
The tree Kangaroos are found in the patches of the Queensland Rainforest, Eastern Australia, and New Guinea. They live in large groups in both grassy and wooded areas. They also live in the tall, tall trees.
Tree Kangaroos eat yummy stuff like fruits and nuts. They also eat disgusting stuff like leaves, grass, flowers, insects, bark, sap, bird eggs, eggs, and baby birds. At the zoo they give them yummy stuff like fruits, zoo mix, corn, and carrots. The zoo also gives them disgusting stuff like diet B, Omolene 100, timothy hay, and tea leaves.
Tree Kangaroos live up to 14 years in captivity. There is no mating season for the Tree Kangaroo. Females mate every 51-79 days long. They mate for about 39-46 days. Then the females usually have 1 baby. The baby is called a Joey. The Joey is 1 inch at birth. The Joey stays in the pouch for 100 days and then the Joey can go out of the pouch whenever it wants but when the Joey is done it has to go back in the pouch. After 350 days the Joey can get out of the moms pouch for good.
The Tree Kangaroo is endangered because people are hunting and killing them. Their predators are very dangerous because they can kill them. The predators are jaguars, tigers, leopards, poachers, and anacondas.
